SD Ag in the Classroom
The main objective of SD Ag in the Classroom is to boost agricultural literacy, shaping a new generation of informed leaders and consumers across the state of South Dakota.
We use a standards-based curriculum and hands-on activities to drive learning for elementary and middle school students in grades 4–8.
SD Ag in the Classroom is guided by six principles:
Teach using STEAM integration
Meet South Dakota content standards
Enhance agricultural literacy
Honor agriculture and agribusinesses
Promote career paths in agriculture
Raise informed leaders and consumers
This statewide initiative is part of a broader organization, National Ag in the Classroom (NAITC), aimed at fostering agricultural literacy and improving student achievement.

All new curriculum is vetted through an Education Working Group and a pilot study before being released state-wide.
